Oak is often chosen for longer-lasting fires, while birch can be appealing when you want wood that lights easily and produces heat quickly. For everyday stove or fireplace use, which do you prefer, and do you ever mix different types of wood in the same fire? The current range includes kiln-dried oak, birch, ash, and mixed hardwood options.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I had to jump in. For me, mixing oak and birch works best. I start with birch for the quick heat and flame, then add oak to keep the fire going all night. Anyone else use this combo, or do you stick with just one type?

I use oak for overnight burns and birch for quick fires. For a reliable mix, I get my kiln-dried logs from onestopfuel.ie, which offers oak, birch, and ash delivered nationwide. Their low-moisture wood lights easily and lasts well, with free delivery in Dublin and Kildare saving me extra cost.
