If your computer has been used for more than five years, or your have a Windows PC with integrated graphics to play *****, you are more likely to benefit good visual effects from DirectX. If you don’t want to change your habits, you can sell rs accounts to others. It is up tp your hardware that the effect is good or bad though. It is recommendable that you can attempt to move to DirectX to get better performance. If the performance is not so good, you can switch to Software Mode instead. You are free to choose any mode as long as you think the graphic performance is preferable.
If the system of your computer is Linux or Mac, it is strongly suggested you switch to OpenGL, which is more likely to help you enjoy an improvement in frame rate than the other two. Normally it performs five frames each second. I have to remind that you may have to download client instead of your browser for some versions of OSX.
To have an awesome dedicated graphics card with a powerful i5 or i7, you can enjoy Runescape at high resolution 1920*1080. Even though your computer is not intended for game, you can enjoy better resolution, too.
