Chronic overwhelm, when multiplied by the information explosion, produces "too much input." This makes living today immensely challenging. We seriously need to give ourselves more credit for what we do achieve. It really is amazing the amount of daily juggling people routinely do to keep up with life, with everything demanding immediate action, accelerating even the routine and mundane. Money is not the great luxury anymore. Time is. What would (and does) happen if we fall behind, can't catch up, or can't get going again? It's hard not falling into the tendency to become robot-like, because life comes at you as soon as you lift your head off the pillow. With the next action immediately upon us, we start projecting the future, planning the next event in our minds, and stop being in present time. When life goes non-stop, we lose sight of available choices--we never see them when they present themselves.
