Liebherr is debuting automated rubber-tyred-gantry cranes (RTGs) at the Port of Duqm in Oman. Automated-rubber-tyred-gantry-cranes-debut-in-Oman The 12 #automated RTGs are cabinless, with the cranes operating automatically over the container stack. Manual control is carried out via four Liebherr remote operator stations. The cranes feature Wi-Fi mesh network communications, a decentralised system that sees multiple access points positioned throughout the yard providing a high-speed and stable data network “delivering the required latency and high-bandwidth communication necessary for remote control”. The contract to supply the cranes was won in 2021. The Port of Duqm is situated in the south-east of Oman and located close to major oil and gas as well mining projects.
