A EUR 1.2M contract to supply a 70/12/5.5t double girder crane for a Russian power plant located in the Ural Mountains has been won by a South African *****.

Manufacturer Condra’s Bulgarian premises took the order for what the firm says will be one of the largest cranes it has ever delivered.

The crane has a 38m span served by the main hoist and two auxiliary hoists, and will achieve a maximum lift height of 28m. Condra says it will achieve lift speeds of up to 12m/min and travelling speeds of 6m/min thanks to variable frequency drives fitted to its motors.

Condra managing director Marc Kleiner said: “It will be manufactured at our Germiston works because of machine complexity. From there it will be shipped in sections to Condra *****, which will then route the crane via Moscow to the Ural Mountains for fabrication under the supervision of one of our installation crews.”
