 | Hi guys.
I have had problems with alcohol for over a decade but keep on running and racing.

I have a 10k on Saturday and I would really like to do well (as well as possible). It's Thursday afternoon here and I am already drinking.

I don't want to go cold turkey tomorrow for I will not sleep at all. What can I do tomorrow to minimize the effects of alcohol? Reduce intake? Eat/drink something in particular?

Trolls are welcome but I am really seeking advice from people who have experienced this first-hand or with someone close to them.

 Thanks in advance.

 | Running while dealing with alcohol challenges is tough, but it sounds like you're committed to your race! For tomorrow, maybe try to gradually cut back. Start by drinking water or a sports drink in between sips of alcohol to stay hydrated. Eating something light and healthy can help too—like bananas or toast to settle your stomach.
I once found myself in a similar situation before a big event. I cut back on drinking a couple of days before, and while I didn’t go completely sober, it helped me feel more focused on my goals. If you’re looking for more support, ***** has some great resources to help folks manage their drinking.
